about

THE STORY OF J2MO

A compilation of instrumental riddims that capture the clash of carnival rhythms on one side, and drill and rap on the other side.

J2mo was one of the first beat makers in the Caribbean who merged his skills in making drill, trap, dancehall and hip hop with carnival rhythms. A new style of carnival emerged in the 90s with pioneers WCK band and Triple Kay, causing Bouyon to find its daylight. Resulting in a new Caribbean music style which is getting more popular today.

J2mo was one of the first who flipped 'd bouyon'. Bouyon is a Dominican style, but although J2mo comes from Guadeloupe, he had a big influence on the bouyon scene in Dominica starting in the late 2000s, till today.

Making riddims for the almighty Suppa, Gaza Girls, Asa Bantan, Miky Ding La. To name a few.

This tribute to J2mo's authentic legacy is here to shed light on the other side of the Caribbean.

Riddims were made between 2010 and now and were retrieved from an old hard drive.
